C295 makes first test flight with anti-ship missile

Airbus Military's C295 has been flown for the first time carrying an anti-ship missile, as the manufacturer looks to broaden the type's versatility for maritime patrol tasks.
Pictured carrying an instrumented test example of MBDA's 310kg (683lb) Marte Mk2/S weapon beneath its wing, the development aircraft will go on to perform "handling qualities tests and aircraft flight performance tests", Airbus Military says. The activity is being conducted under a joint effort between the airframer and missile producer.
Airbus Military has already integrated the Mk46 torpedo with the C295 for anti-submarine warfare duties, and the addition of a sea-skimming anti-ship missile will support its efforts to sell the twin turboprop as a maritime patrol aircraft
